ABOUT KORINA Korina is a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (www.stat.org.uk). She started having lessons herself in 1994 whilst at university studying sociology. She discovered that it led to the reduction in back and neck pain brought about by habits of tension and a back injury from Aikido. It also helped her manage stress. She continued to have lessons throughout the four years that she spent working as a physical theatre performer and teacher with Frantic Assembly as it improved the quality of her movement and voice. This inspired her to embark on a three-year Alexander Technique teacher training course. Korina has a busy practice teaching individuals, and giving talks and workshops to a variety of organisations. These include West Sussex County Council, the Southdown Housing Association, and Sightsavers International and the Shiatsu College. She has taught at the Arts Educational Drama School, and teaches on an annual residential week for the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra. This year she has been teaching student actors on the Theatre Arts Foundation degree at Northbrook College. An active participant in STAT's continuing professional development program, she is also the regional Alexander teachers' representative and organises regular professional development workshops. She is on the STAT Scientific Research Committee, and is currently organising the STAT Conference 2010 STAT Conference 2010. She continues to reap the benefits of the Technique and particularly enjoys applying it to dancing lindy hop and 5 Rhythms, and to singing in a gospel choir.
